Backtrack

Was on leave on Friday as I need to go get the Log Card from the Finance Company so that my brother can convert the car to a weekend car.

Had planned my day so that I can maximise my leave...

1) go finance company to get log card,
2) go see my banker to see off one of my funds
3) renew my Body Shop membership
3) go L'Oreal sales

So accordingly, I went in search of the finance company. As I don't work in Shenton Way, I am super blur when it comes to which building is where. So spend some time studying the map before I left the MRT. The finance company is near Lau Pa Sat, the lady told me that I am to go in from the entrance facing Lau Pa Sat so I walked to the side of the building facing Lau Pa Sat and guess what, I can't find any entrance, double back, and I walked into one of the subsidiary of the company and asked if that is the place to collect the car log card and was directed to another part of the building. I was tired after walking all over the place.

When I got to the said department, I was first made to wait, that is fine with me. Then the Log Card department lady said that due to LTA's system changing over the weekend, they can't release the Log Card to me. I was like, WTH... the finance department lady told me that I can collect and now you tell me that I can't get the log card.

Nevermind, she got another male colleague of hers to speak to me. First thing he say to me is that I have to speak to the lady who told me that I can come over to collect the log card and that I should call LTA to ask them about their system conversion. I asked him for LTA's hotline so that I can call them but he just brush me off saying that he have no idea that the number is and just walk off to his desk. Extremely rude to just leave a customer standing at the counter and you won't offer to help.

Boy, was I pissed! You are working in close relationship with LTA and you can tell me that you don't have their hotline?? As your customer, shouldn't you even make the effort to find the number for me?? So I used their internal phone to call the lady that I had spoken to and asked her what is happening, she asked to speak to her colleague again and then told me that she had no idea that LTA was converting their system. She added that it will be better for me to check with them directly. I told her that her colleague had told me that he had no idea what is LTA's hotline. She asked me to wait. (I can heard her complaining to another colleague that he won't help me get LTA's number and asked her what is LTA's number. So good of her)

Finally she came back to give me LTA's number and I called and they confirmed that they are changing their system last weekend. Can't do anything about it.

So I walked over to meet my banker to sign the forms for selling my funds. He did tell me that he is leaving the office but will get his girl to bring the form down for me to sign. So I went into the bank branch to wait, in less than 5 minutes, the forms were signed and I am out of the bank. Now that is good customer service.

Went over to Body Shop which just steps away from the bank. and renew my membership.

Hope over to L'Oreal's sale and I was good, I didn't spend much this time. Got some hair masque, shampoo, mascara, lip gloss, hair tonic and face mask. All in, only spend $100. Me good, control spending...

On Saturday, brought Joelle for her vaccination. She is a good girl, didn't really cry, the 1st jab was over before she realised and she didn't make a fuss, the 2nd jab, she cried a little, less than a minute and she had stopped. Good girl. Doc was saying that she may have a slight fever after the jab so we need to monitor her. Got back home and it was already close to 4pm.

Sunday, beauty time with the girls. We went to do our hair at our usual hair stylist's place. Brought Cheryl and Jasper along. They went for a swim before I went to get my hair done. Before we left home, Joelle was having slight fever but she is rather energetic so told Amy to monitor her and let her have her medicine every 6 hourly. By the time we were home, she is up and playing with Amy. No complains from Amy that she is cranky.

I had an early night as I was tired from all the activites from the past few days. James slept even earlier just to have enough sleep so that he can catch the game at 11pm last night. He is happy that his favourite team won. He went to bed at 1.30am this morning.

Now waiting for China's reply before I can start on some of the work...

Meetings

This morning, one of my colleagues IM me asking if my sup had spoken to me about his resignation. I then realised that till the moment the announcement came out. He had not spoken about his resignation at all. I believe that it is because 1) I don't report to him directly so he can't be bothered to tell me, 2) I am way down the ladder so no point telling me and perhaps 3) he is waiting for me to ask him why he is leaving...

My ex Team Leader was online and we chatted for a while yesterday. The both of us used to work under him before he was posted to HQ for work assignment. She is sad that for someone who had worked so long, his resignation announcement is only 2 lines.

Came out of the afternoon meeting, now we have a mini 6 Sigma project to see who does what and why... The China accountants will be in the office 1st week of Singapore so I will discuss further with him when he is here.

Long weekend...here I come... hahaha...

Listless.....

Feeling listless today. Today is basically a meeting day.

9.00 - 11.00am ~ Focus group meeting. This group comprise of two divisions under the same manager. Very vocal group, generated a lot of opinions, feedback and actions for improvements. A very solid 2 hours meeting. Learnt quite a lot of things.

Lunch in today because cafeteria is offering Japanese food. Not too fantastic, all cooked food, no sashimi.

Next meeting at 2.30pm... to discuss with China region about the workscope to be done by each of us. Wonder if they will push everything back to us to do.

Have to stand firm, don't take over their portion of work. Be firm, be firm, be firm....

SAP Girls 4

Discussion is on again today...

Girl 1 : I will be packing my lotions in a plastic bag and putting it in the zipper compartment...blah blah... so that it will not dirty my clothes if they were to spill...

Girl 2 : *whisper..... whisper* cant hear what she is saying, she is very soft spoken today

Girl 1: (now they are talking about the labour day holiday over in melbourne) we can go to xxxx during their labour day holiday....

Girl 2 : (something about her parents going over to visit her, free lodging becos her apt is paid for by the co.)

Girl 1 : blah blah ... (how they are going to drive to the different places in melbourne for sightseeing) ... blah blah

Girl 1 : I am leaving my coats here unless I will be there for more than 6 months then I wil bring them over...

Thank God they will be flying off this weekend... Won't be in the office on Friday, taking leave... for my massage... heavenly....

Back to Acctg

Hahaha... My soon to be new head just told me that I will be back in Acctg in early March.

He is calling for meeting tomorrow for a few of us to discuss about jobscopes and responsibilities... and may get us involve in a mini 6 Sigma project...

Anyway, my sup's resignation announcement is out today. It only consists of three lines. For someone who had worked in the company for so long, his resignation announcement is only three lines. Sigh...

New head was saying that he will drop a note to my old dept head to let him know about the date that I will be moving back to Acctg in which case it may be later than the 1st week of March... No one asked me who my new boss is going to be. Maybe most of them knew that I will be going back to Acctg so don't need to ask me.

Now starting to wonder what is it like to be back there...

Ouch II

Was at Boon Lay MRT waiting for the train to go home. Standing over at door 5, meaning that I will most probably get the 2 seater seats, if possible.

Train pulls up and stops, I walked in and a middle age man pushed his way in, stepping hard on my foot. My right toes were hurting like crazy. I said "Ouch" really loud, until the other two colleagues who boarded the train with me turned to see what had happened.

The uncle sat down and asked in mandarin, "Did I stepped on you?" I glared at him and said "Yes."

You are wearing track shoes. No matter what you step on, I believe you will have no feelings, of course, unless it is a very long nail, then you will be yelling in pain yourself.

I examined my toes and found that my nail had cracked, half of my nail polish and nail art, erased by his track shoe and it is still hurting like crazy. I was waiting for him to at least say sorry. It is not like a very difficult thing to do. You pushed your way in regardless that I was in front, stepped on my foot because of your rush to get a seat and you won't even apologised.

I really feel like shoving my feet in front of his face to show him that my nail had been cracked by him. Luckily, the crack was not a deep one so there is no bleeding.

All you want is a seat, there is plenty in the train, you don't need to push and step on me to get a seat, right?? If you were to say that you were elderly, I would have offered my seat to you if there is no seat for you.

He alighted shortly after that... So you are only sitting for a few stops...sigh... With your eagerness to get a seat, I thought that you need the seat because you will be alighting at the other end eg, Tampines or Pasir Ris.

Show me the $$$

You know, when my company outsourced some of the basic HR functions, it is to ensure that

1. our staff don't get bogged down with unnecessary paperwork

2. basic reimbursement like medical, dental etc get reimburse to us on a timely basis

3. in short, it is to pass the s**t work to someone else (sorry about that, but I believe that that is what is happening)

So imagine, I had submitted my maternity claim in December 2005. Having attached all the necessary documents like birth certificate of my baby, all my Gyn's receipts, hospital billings and also send in another form informing the outsource company that I had a baby daughter, with her birth cert included.

Come February, no maternity reimbursement. I called up the outsource company to inquire why is it that my reimbursement is not in as yet when the rest of my medical claims are paid this month. The lady checked and got back to me saying that "Sorry but you did not include the birth cert. Can you please refax it to us so that we can process your claim?"

I was really pissed.. why is that so?? I had submitted my claim in late December. Come January, if you were to process the claim. You meant to tell me that you knew that I didn't submit the birth cert but you can't give me a call. I am very sure that I had submitted the birth cert because I had double checked everything before I submitted the forms.

I rechecked my photocopied documents. Everyone of us who had families who need to claim medical or dental always photocopied our bills before we submit them. Everything is in order. So I called them again but this time to check if they had received my form informing them about my new born daughter. This is another lady, she checked and said that "Yes, your daughter's status has been updated." This means that they have a copy of her birth cert. So I asked this lady to faxed the birth cert to the claims dept as they are all in the same building.

Don't make sense to me to go home, bring my child's birth cert, make a copy and fax it to them when they have a copy on hand.

The lady said that she will check to let me know if they can do that. By this time, I was getting really angry. When I was holding on, waiting to be attended, the audio message state that they do things differently, does differently meant that even if you have the document, you can't share it between departments?? To me, it seems that departments are not talking to each other and they don't share information between themselves. Not customer oriented because you need the customer to give you something that you have but don't want to pass on to the other department.

I told the lady that it does not make sense to me that I have to go back, take the cert, make a copy and fax to them when they have a copy with them.

I am getting nasty and I really can't be bothered. It is not the first time that they had omitted one of my reimbursement. If you have omitted it, tell me that you had overlooked my claim and will process it next month. Don't tell me that I have forgotten to include the birth cert when I had.

She then told me that she will get back to me shortly. In the end, she called back to let me know that it will be process and I will get the check next month.

I know that the processing time for claims is about 2 months that is why I made sure that I submit it early with all the documents so that I can get my $$ back early. Do you think that I will give you something that is incomplete?? Now I have to wait another month for them to process.

See if this reimbursement thing is still in charge by the HR department, they will be very busy answering all our queries about our reimbursement but outsource it, no one will go bother them. Any nasty customer like myself, they won't have to bother as we will go straight to the outsource company instead.

Ok, have got it off my chest, can cool down now... *Smile*.....

Friday : Discovered that my brother had left for Malaysia on Friday and will be back this weekend for his review. Meet James for dinner before going for a talk, then went home at about 9pm. Had an early night as I was tired.

Saturday : Went for to open bank account for Joelle (the CDA account) and in the afternoon went for my massage. James came to pick me after I had finished so we went home together. Went for supper with Kevin and mum.. prata... sinful as I am trying to lose weight...sigh...

Sunday : Stayed at home as James' friends are coming over for a visit. They stayed till about 6pm. Had dinner, I slept early again... bad headache... running nose

Summary : Didn't do much this weekend...

Monday : Was on MC because of the headache... it didn't get any better from my long sleep. Went to the doctor, got my med and went home to sleep some more. James stayed home to help out. On the whole, kids are ok and I had plenty of rest.

In office today, sorting out the mess created when I was away. Came to a conclusion... DO NOT TRUST THE OTHER FACILITIES ACCOUNTANTS TO DO WHAT IS NEEDED. THEY WILL ONLY MESS UP YOUR JOB.

Sup came over to ask me to set up some stuff for him... was thinking of checking with the HOD before I proceed. He is going off soon. I don't want to do stuff now only to be correcting them later.

Sigh... really hate to be caught in between bosses...

Departmental Lunch

Supposedly suppose to be CNY lunch... according to what was stated on the email... CNY is over and done with since last Sunday. Learnt at lunch that this is the new year lunch meaning ??lunch to start the new working year??

Anyway, lunch was good, any 2 hour lunch is good. Went to Jurong Country Club's Teochew restaurant for the first time today. It used to be Tang Court in the past. The food is ok. One of my colleague refuse to eat the sharkfin soup based on his principle.

The HOD was sitting at our table so was listening to him talk about stuff that we didn't know, like he is married for 18 years already, his home leave will always be in June, etc etc.

In all, we talked about a lot of things that we don't normally talk about. Nothing brings people together like a good meal.

Back in the office after a heavy meal. Just waiting for my eyes to start feeling heavy now....

Good News...

My brother discharged from TTS yesterday...

Finally after 4 days there, he's home yesterday. Wonder if he will be leaving for Malaysia today. He looks well and appetite is very much better compared to when he first arrive in Singapore.

Joe had been having fun playing with Jasper. I think their favourite game is hide and seek. Jasper's favourite place to hide is under the bed, i believe it is due to Joe being a toddler, won't think of looking under the bed for him. So Jasper hides there most of the time.

Last night, Joe can't find him so I joined in the fun to see where he is hiding. He can be so quiet when he hides. It is when I started to get angry because he didn't answer me when I called him then he appeared from under his bed. And I have been walking in and out of his room looking for him, in the dark. So no problem when it comes to NS, sure can pass camouflage. Hahaha...

Sup just drop by to ask me to check on more expenses...

It's Bonus time next month...

Title said it all... Bonus time next month...

No title

Me blur....

The other day, I issued a check for a 24 month program and guess what, I receive a call from the company today and realised that I had wrote 2007 instead of 2006. The lady asked me to resend them another check so that they can start processing. Have to get it done tonight.

Today, my sup came over early in the morning to ask me to check on some expenses, why they were booked into some accounts. So I went over to payables to get them to check it for me. It is only after lunch that I got the answer from them so I revert to my sup. Then he start to say things like why is it book into div xx1, and I corrected him saying that it is div xx7 that he wants me to check. He went, "ok ok.." and walked to his cubicle.

In less than a minute, he is back in my cubicle, handing me another piece of paper asking me to do the same thing, "Check why this is book into div xx1."

Please can't you give me both piece of paper at once. I am sure that he had printed both pages at the same time. Ok, give him the benefit of the doubt, that he forgot to pass me the 2nd piece of paper, he had more than enough time to pass it to me before lunch. But it is after I got back to him on the 1st request than he pass his 2nd request to me. You know, these checks can be done at the same time? We are troubling the other party to do extra work for us?

I am still waiting for the answer to the 2nd request.

SAP Girls 3

10.17am

Girl 3 : When are you going back to Malaysia? Have you converted your license?

Girl 2: Maybe this weekend

Girl 3: blah blah... (talk about other things)...blah blah

Girl 3 : most probably your airticket will be issued on Friday..

Girl 3: Girl 1's airticket will be issued later. blah blah blah....

Girl 3: Driving license have to convert, just called AA to cfm. Even Malaysian license have to be converted.

Girl 3: Need more drivers because Girl 4 is worried that she may not be able to drive.

10.22am end conversation...

Me getting boring, I know but me can't help listening as Girl 2 is sitting right in front of me and everyone likes to go to her desk to talk.

SAP Girls 2

10.05am

Girl 3 : We will collect it at the airport. (no idea what the "it" means.)

Girl 2 : So it is confirm that we get it at the airport?

Girl 3 : Yes, confirm we will get it at the airport.

Girl 3 walks back to her workstation.

End of conversation 10.09

Can't understand, can't the 3 , 4 or 5 of them just sit down, trash everything out once and for all instead of piecemeal confirmations everyday, several times in a day?

I tell you, I am sure that they will miss out something when they are on their way to Australia. GET A CHECKLIST. Then everything will be listed down and check them off when you have done it. Nothing will be missed.

Talks between the SAP girls

Remember I said that I will be posting what the girls who are going to Australia says everytime they say something? Well here it is...

It is now 9am, and the talk about Australia had started once again...

Girl 1 : You know, if I don't have a visa, I can't go.

Girl 2 : No problem, should be able to get it out in time...

End of conversation by 9.05am...

Will see if there is more later...

Good news...Good news... and More Good news...

GOOD NEWS.....

A while ago, the Accounting Manager came over to my workstation to tell me that I will be going back to Accounting and will be doing what I have been doing before I moved over to the new department.

This confirmation is the best news I have received so far today...

Better still, I won't be reporting to the Team Leader in Beijing, nor will I be reporting to the Team Leader here. They are getting someone new to be my Manager... Hahahaha...

It seems that the horoscope book is pretty accurate.... This is a good month for me...

Second good news for the day, the Accounting Manager told me that my sup had resign as of last night. RESIGNED.... Can you imagine that??? This company's benefits are the best so far, of course, I won't know if there are any other companys' whose benefits are better than mine at the moment. But with his job grade, should be easily in the 5 figure range, afterall, he had been in this company for almost 11 to 12 years. Possibly even 15 years working in this company.

And if he had been only buying the company's shares and have not even sold any so far, he can easily take a one year break if he were to sell off all the shares now. The amount is going to be very substantial.

The Accounting Manager was so funny just now when he told me the news about my sup. He is like so surprise that I have not heard it. I was like thinking to myself, "Ahem, you manager, me small fry, of course I won't get the news that fast."

Anyway, this is the best Valentine's Day I ever had. Two good news within the day... Will be smiling even in my sleep tonight...

Transport

Last night, met James at Outram to go home together. While on the bus, he started to compare the pros and cons of getting a car.

So I was telling him that I want to be like Harry Potter. Then we won't need a car anymore. A broomstick will do.

Just think about it, no COE, no road tax, no petrol, no insurance. Save a bloody whole lot of $$$...

Furthermore, no need to pay for carpark as I won't even need parking space for it. I can store my broomstick at home after I arrive home. Another plus point is that there will no no scratches on it as it is not left in the carpark. No scratch = no need to re-spray the car if there is scratches. Don't need to wash the car (I mean broomstick) as how dirty can it get. There won't be birdshit on it as it is kept at home. An occassional wipe will keep it clean from dust.

The pluses are tremendous. If there is a real Hogswarts out there, I want to enroll and learn how to ride a broomstick. But that means that all our kids will have to ride a broomstick as how can a broomstick take more than one person?

Australia...SAP...Australia...Australia....

I really dont understand... Part of my division is going over to Australia to implement SAP so I can understand why they need to discuss their plans on living arragements, transportation etc etc.

But to be discussing it for nearly two weeks?? And it is like several times a day?? I am getting a little tired of listening to people saying the same thing each time. Each discussion is about 30 to 45 mins. They will talk about how they are suppose to get their living allowances, how the entries are suppose to be posted, whether they should get a car for travelling. I think I can write a full post the next time they start their discussion. Can track how often they talk about the same thing... Hahahaha

Weekend spoilt

Can you imagine, my brother who had not visited us since July last year, came to Singapore and was admitted to TTS for dengue fever.

Ok, to start off with, he is not feeling well even when he is in Malaysia. Having fever off and on but since he had missed coming out during Chinese New Year, he promised my mum that he will bring his family out last weekend for visiting.

I think they came out last on Friday night. I was asleep by then because I am too tired to stay awake. The kids stayed up to wait for them but I am not sure if they stayed up till they got here.

Woke up on Saturday to find that mum, kids and Terence family had went out. Was left with Joelle at home but it was a quiet morning and I was actually glad that the kids are not home. Could read the papers in peace and do everything in slow motion which is not possible if the kids are in. Need to constantly keep an eye on them.

Mum et al came back by lunch time and Terence went off to sleep again. That is when I found out that he is not feeling well.

Stayed at home the whole day till late at night when I went to fetch James back from work.

Early Sunday morning, James brought the kids for swimming, I stayed home to look after Joelle as she still cant go swimming yet. Plan was to bring her for swimming when she is slightly older. I was thinking when she is about 1 year old, should be a good time to let her start swimming.

Anyway, Terence finally decided to go see the doctor on Sunday morning. Saying that he would like to go for blood test to see if he had contracted dengue. His wife, Elaine, was saying that it is most probably it as he seems to have rashes on his arm and legs. Told him that it is no use going to the GP as the blood test will need time to get back. Might as well go to TTS straightaway for checking.

Waited for James to be back with the kids and they came back at the same time as mum. Had a brief lunch then we set off to TTS and Terence conveniently forgot to bring his IC. James send Elaine and Joe back and collected his IC then return to TTS. Got there about 1.30pm, waited till 2+ before he gets to see the doctor, after the doctor had seen him, told Terence that he had to be admitted, so he is brought to another place to rest. It is already about 3+ then. Mum told us to go back first because Terence is suppose to be send to CDC to be warded and there is no bed at the moment. So we left for home.

4+, mum called to say that he is finally warded over to TTS because there is a bed for him. So we went to pick mum up at about 7+ and brought Elaine and Joe to see Terence. Elaine would have to take a few days leave from work because they can't leave today for Malaysia. Kids are happy as they can play with Joe for a few more days.

Wonder if Terence can be discharge by tomorrow. The last time, Jasper was warded for two nights. So if everything goes well, he should be out by tomorrow.

Didn't take pics of Joe yet. Have to take them by tonight.

Weekend...Weekend....

It's Friday... Toto draw tonight....

Was at the foodcourt for lunch and the lady in front of me ordered two bowls of noodles. After the stall had placed everything on a tray for her, she "requested" for more soup in each bowl. There is already a lot of soup in both bowls but she wants more. The stall helper obliged her and added more soup into each bowl. As she lifted up the tray, guess what is her remark? "Aiyoh, so heavy."

Please, you ordered two bowls of noodles and requested for more soup. You know, soup = water, water have weight?? Of course the tray will be heavy.

After lunch, went to queue to buy System 7 for the Toto draw. Surprisingly, I didn't have to queue long for my turn, less than 10 minutes and I have paid and collected my set of numbers. Most amazingly is that I saw one of my expat colleagues queuing up too. Must be attracted by the hugh payout. Will be checking the papers for the winning numbers tomorrow or teletext tonight if possible.

Waiting for my brother to be in Singapore this weekend. Have not seen my nephew for quite some time. Toddler stage, will be a cute little boy now. Valentine's day is coming, will be having dinner with James at Marina, Japanese food, my favourite.

The rest of the department is in a meeting now. At least the people involve in implementing the new system is in the meeting so the whole place is very quiet except for me, typing away.

Visiting the Bar soon....

No Mood

Didn't really in the mood to write today as it is a slow moving day for me. Surfing the site called http://www.yello.com.sg just for fun and read what people are posting for sales, jobs and whatnots. It seems that there are several sites that one can earn extra income by just spending some time viewing ads and movie trailers.

Seems too good to be true for me....

Farewell party for my cousin...

Went for my cousin Amy's farewell party. She will be going over to Australia to study forensic science.

The whole family went over to my uncle's place at AMK for late lunch. Joelle fell asleep soon after we reached there and a few of my aunts and uncles who have not seen her was busy carrying her and playing with her.

After a while, got my aunt, cousin Jan and James to play mahjong. Excuse was that I needed the practise, which is rather true. With a base of $10, whoever with the most chips left will get $2 from the rest of the players. This is good as I will not be losing a lot. Max of only $2 if I don't get the most chips at the end of the game.

Cheryl and Jasper was with their aunts and uncle, my cousins, playing da te, I who have never managed to learn the game, the two of them picked it up over last September vacation with my cousins when they went to Malacca.

So there were two groups of us, gambling away, took a short break when Amy had to cut her birthday cake. Advance celebration of her 21st birthday due to her leaving for studies soon. The photo taking session was rather long and have to ask my uncle to hurry up as the candle is burning out soon. Some of her friends got her a hugh bunch of balloons with birthday messages printed on it. And I saw a cute doggie balloon shaped like a pug so I asked her if it is her Rocky... her pet dog when she was young and she was surprised that I remember Rocky. How can I possibly forget her dogs when each new dog was named Rocky when the old one had passed on.

At the end of the mahjong game, I had to pay $2, so you know the result of my game yesterday. Actually this is a good way to play mahjong for those who have not played in a long time as you won't incur heavy losses. Hahaha.

Finally, left for home at about 6+ in the evening. Too much excitement for Joelle and she seems to be having nightmares later in the night, crying for no reasons.

Maternity Leave - Part II

Dug up the website and took a look at it...

Extract from website :

Government-Paid Maternity Leave

To allow mothers to have more time to recover from childbirth and care for their newborn, Maternity Leave was extended from 8 to 12 weeks with effect from 1 October 2004 for all births.

For the first 2 confinements, the first 8 weeks of maternity leave will continue to be paid by the employer. The additional 4 weeks, capped at $10,000 (including CPF contributions), will be funded by the Government for the first and second confinements of a married working mother. For the third and fourth confinements of a married working mother, the Government will fund the full 12 weeks of salary, capped at $30,000 (including CPF contributions), if the mother has fewer than 4 living children at the time of confinement. To qualify for Government reimbursement, the child must be a Singapore Citizen.

If there is mutual agreement between the mother and her employer, the additional 4 weeks of maternity leave may be taken flexibly over a period of 6 months from the birth of the child. Otherwise, the additional 4 weeks of leave must be taken as a block immediately after the first 8 weeks.

Well, I have spoken to my Division Manager about coming back early, he is ok with it so I really don't see why I can't break up my leave.

HR personnel out there, is it a must that I have to take all 12 weeks at once??

Maternity Leave - troublesome....

Was talking to one of the HR personnel before lunch today and she told me that for maternity leave, one have to take it 12 weeks straight, we can't break it up, like taking the first 8 weeks for our confinement and rest, then taking the last 4 weeks later.

I still have 2 weeks of my maternity leave left and was actually planning to take one week in March and one in April so that I can spend time with Joelle as she gets older and also for her pediatrician visits. She can't really do much now except drink milk and sleep, with the occasional baby talk. So now it is like I have to take 2 weeks in March instead.

Shall have to visit the website regarding maternity leave to read up on what is the ruling on it.

Oopppsss..

Something had happened when I logon to Blogger from home.

It is showing up in Mandarin instead of English. What on earth had happen to my computer this time???

But I am very happy/glad/excited that I can logon from home. At least now I can surf the internet from home instead of from office...

Maybe

I may be able to blog from home tonight...

Depending on my dear if he can get the modem box today and get everything fixed up.

Missed playing my jigsaw online and reading my blogs....

Heard from my HOD that I will be going back to my old department in March. I have just been transferred to his department last year and now I have to go back to my old department. I know that I am on a project basis when I got transferred but less than 2 years and I get to go back, it is a little too fast.

No more leaving the office to take the 5.15pm bus anymore. Everyone in my old department leaves the office at 5.30 to catch the 5.40 bus to get to the MRT. All eyes will be on you if you were to step out of the office early. SIGH... This means that I will reach home later in future.

Leave office at 5.15pm, I will get to reach Boon Lay MRT at 5.25pm, reach Outram at about 6pm and get to Kovan at 6.25, wait for my bus, reach home at about 7pm.

Leave office at 5.40pm, reach MRT at 5.50, reach Outram at about 6.30, Kovan at about 7 and home at about 7.30. The bus that reaches Kovan takes longer after peak hours. If I were to miss the bus, it will be another 15 to 20 minutes wait.

Come to think of it, I have been very fortunate to have my baby when I am in my present department. There is relatively little or no stress except from my sup. I can leave slightly early. The workload is lighter and there are no deadlines.

My former secretary was telling me that she will save a workstation for me. Right in front of my new supervisor but when I went over to fax this morning, I found that someone was in the midst of shifting into my said new workstation. This means that I have no place to sit in the department when I get back in March.

I was telling her that I would like to have a quiet workstation as I have grown accustom to my quiet surroundings in the present workstation.

Will just have to wait and see how's the outcome in the next few months.

OUCH...

That's my toe you stepped on...

I really don't understand, is it because you were wearing thick soles or you have absolutely no feelings on your feet. Didn't you realised that you had stepped on something. Even if you didn't realised, I am sure that you heard my "ouch".

Does it cost you a lot of just to turn around to say a quick "sorry"?? I will be contented just to hear a quick "sorry" from you because I believe that you didn't do it intentionally.

My toes were stepped on this morning when I am on the bus. Not the first time and won't be the last. It is not that I will scold the person who did that because I knew that the bus were crowded. An apology would be nice.

Yesterday, my shoulder was hit by a haversack. The bus was moving and you need to move to the back of the bus but, like I say, a quick sorry is nice.

Courtesy seems to be dead among the young these days. Is it that hard to say sorry when you had bumped into another person? Or is that why there are so many staring incidents among you people. Having bumped into someone but just don't admit it and apologise. You would rather stare and try to intimidate the other person to look away so that you would not need to apologise?? Even if you were in the wrong??

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't stared at but ... people do try to out-stare each other when they are in the wrong.

Crappy way to start my morning. Made myself a cup of mocha when I reached the office. Need to jumpstart my system as I am still feeling sleepy even though I slept early last night.

Humour

Found these slides in one of my folders... Pretty funny description about bossess....

Interpretation : "All bosses are incompetent."

Interpretation : "If not, they will not need subordinates, as a subordinate, you must..."

Interpretation : "must assist the boss in the areas of work that they do not know how to do.."

Interpretation : "By giving you a salary, half of it is for your work performance..."

Interpretation : "The other half is for you to put up with him..."

This is quite true in real life, have a few friends who are facing this problem in their job now...

Read it, have a good laugh, then get back to working your ass off for your boss...HAHAHA...

After the CNY holiday, holiday mood is still around...

Back at work today after the long weekend. James only start work tomorrow.... lucky guy... I have not got over the holiday mood yet. Still want to stay home and veg out for a little while more. Being on leave for 10 weeks makes it difficult to start going back to the office. Still have 2 weeks of leave to clear in the next 2 months.

The kids had a great time collection the hongbaos from all their elders and all the eating and playing with their cousins.

Been busy visiting people and getting visitors the last two days, managed to catch the movie Fearless yesterday afternoon but as it is NC-16. Cheryl and Jasper couldn't watch it with us. Had to send them back home then go for the movie later.

It was a good movie and we realised that it was pretty violent. No wonder it is classified as NC-16. Even I feel grossed out when I see the way Jet Li break the bones of his opponents... imagine the pain the other party feels... Felt sad when he was poisoned at the end of the show.

Kevin went back to Malaysia yesterday afternoon. Said that he woke up at 11.30am but we were like, that can't be the time you woke up as we only left the house at 12pm for visiting and you were still asleep then. Anyway, mum said that he will be back again tonight. He just went in to check on the sales of his plants.

Both Cheryl and Jasper stayed home and played computer. At least they didn't get into any fights with each other when we were out.

Another eating sessions is coming up this Sunday. My cousin is leaving for Australia soon so her dad is throwing her an advance birthday celebration and farewell party at the same time for her.
With her leaving for her studies, my uncle will only be left with his younger daughter for companionship.

Received a call from my aunt over in Holland. She don't call often expect for special occasions. Exchanged greetings and talked for a while. Told that I will try to send her a CD with all the photos of my kids soon.

Need to get back into the mood of working fast....
