Ice Age 2

Just got back not long. Watch the sneak preview of Ice Age 2 over at Lido. It is hilarious. You can recognise the nuance of other movies in the cartoon. You just have to watch it to understand what I am talking about.

Have to sleep now... as I will only be getting about 5 hours of sleep.

Joelle turned this morning...

Joelle managed to finally turn to her tummy this morning all by herself without any help. She had been practicing for a while already.

This picture was taken a few days ago, she managed to turn with some help...

Her favourite pastime now...sucking on her fingers...

Funny new blog... very expressive

Got the link to this new blog from the bar...

I like her blog... expressive without words... Here's the link to her blog, The Bitter Stickgal, she draws instead of putting her feelings in words.

Tonight watching Ice Age 2. Got the tickets when we went to sign up for the Safra membership.

Busy at work these days...

I have forgotten how busy it used to be working in Accounting.

Received closed to 30 pages of fax from Australia to issue capital numbers for them. More coming in from Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia in the next few days.

Have been having it easy for the last year so not really used to the avalanche of work now. Got to get back up to speed in issuing the numbers for the accountants in different regions.

The China accountant made me blew my top yesterday. I had tidied up the items in the system but instead of using the items that I had entered, he went and created more new items. He didn't bother to check what are the existing items that he can use. Just create new ones for his use. So basically, the figures in the system went double up because of what he did. Emails started flying around and he asked me to solved it in the best way possible. (Meaning - please clean up his shit for him)

If you don't want to help, I can understand. I had already said that I will take back those that I used to do and just leave you with 2 groups for you to take care of. Your groups are not huge on their transactions so please don't screw up my groups. I will take care of them.

Spent the whole afternoon cleaning up the mess he created and need to double check that he didn't create anymore new items anywhere. It is tedious and double work for me. Hate having other people meddling in my groups. Will cut off their access when I go review the access list.

I only manage to finish the Australia's group request this morning before lunch. Now need to go check on what other things I need to clear before month end.

Back in Singapore

Got back to Singapore really fast, not much of a jam at the Causeway today.

Joelle was being pushed around the house by Amy in her stroller when we got home. The little naughty girl, she was looking at us when we got back like who are these people. Carried her and rock her to sleep. Missed her.

Coming back

Sent off to Terence's nursery in the morning to let the kids see what it is like.

The trend seems to be carpet grass planting in Malaysia now. Saw a lot of nurseries planting them in batches.

Terence's Curly Bamboos all hanging on display.

A part of his nursery was nicely landscaped to show customers how the plants/ferns/whatnots can be arranged.

(Need to go search for the photo, will post it later...)

Kids having a walkabout around his place, looking at all the plants.

Spend the rest of the time driving down to JB to spend the night there. One of the expressway was jammed so Kevin took the old road which means spending more time on the road to reach JB.

Totally drained when we got back to his place.

Cameron Highlands

Work our way up Cameron Highlands from about 8am. Stopped over at some place to look for the lots that Mum had bought sometime ago....Saw cows walking all over the place instead.

The road up is so full of curves and slopes up and down. Luckily I had decided not to read my book on the way up or I will be puking when we get there.

Stopped over for lunch before we went further up the hill/mountain.

Saw a tea plantation on our way up...

You can actually smell a faint aromatic fragrance of the tea...

Kevin told the kids to stand near the tree to take a pix. Jasper being afraid of heights, was holding the tree for dear life... hahaha... even after Kevin was holding on to him, he is still using 2 hands to hold onto the tree...

Stopped at one of the shops that sells flowers and took some pictures of the flowers there. The kids bought and ate some ice cream.

Finally stopped at one of those places that sells stuff and strawberries. The kids wanted to experience how it is to pluck strawberries so we went around finding those farms that let you pluck strawberries for a fee but they don't come cheap. 500g for $15 and anything about 500g, you pay extra. Not possible to pluck actually 500g so will most probably need to pay extra so told the kids that we will buy 2 trays of strawberries instead, that comes up to $30 anyway.

Jasper is upset in the picture below, didn't want to even stand near Cheryl to take the picture. That was after we told him that we are not going to pluck the strawberries.

Found another place that let you pluck the strawberries and they will just calculate according to how much you had plucked. So brought Jasper to pluck some. Telling him to just get a little as we have already bought 2 trays.

He is happy after that.....

After going all the way up, we spend about 4 to 5 hours driving down to KL for the night. Spending the night over at Terence's place so that we can get to see Joe.

Had our dinner at Mac's around 8+, James passed his colleagues some stuff then we went to Ikea to walk around. Left Ikea when they closed for the night. Reached Terence's place around 10+, bathed and slept.

Trip up to Ipoh

Went into JB on Wednesday to spend the night there before we go up to Ipoh on Thursday.

Thursday is spend literally on the road the whole day.

First we went over to Kevin's place to look around. All the plants, ferns and whatnots that he have at his nursery/plantation/farm... Pictures below...

Kids having some fun throwing the rocks to see whose gets further.

We spend some time over in Batu Pahat. Mum went to pray over at a temple there.

Some pictures of the temple...

Kevin wanting to throw Jasper into the river...

Then it is all the way up to Ipoh for the night.

More on March 17th post.

Miscellaneous

Started to the groundwork to clean up the system that was messed up after I handed over to the other accountants. The preparation is ready but I just can't get the Team Leader to sit down with me for a discussion on how to allocate the amounts.

Sometimes, I really don't understand, if the other party didn't do it right in the first place, why am I correcting it now?? It all boils down to a single action... review by the top guy in future. I have seen some of the emails that were flying around before I was asked to go back to Accounting. Top guy asking the Aussie manager that he trust that the Aussie manager is reviewing the report by product line. Immediately I knew that the Aussie manager is not doing that. His Operations Manager based in China then shot an email over to the Team Leader here saying that I will be in a better position to answer.

WTF... I was out of the picture for months and then I am the best person to answer this question??? You wanted my headcount, but didn't want the work that goes with it, I can't say anything because you got the backing of the Aussie manager but when your people don't know what they are doing, please don't say that I am the best person to comment on it. I have taught them everything that I know and if there is something new that Corporate needs them to do, they should consult Corporate if they don't know, not muck around, let the shit hit the fan, then push everything back to me to clean up. God, I really hate that woman (the manager in China)....
Heard that the Team Leader is sick today, I'll on leave till next week. That means I can only meet up with him next week when I am back, provided that he is not on sick leave again.

I am counting down to the hours that I leave Singapore. Need a break from office especially when work is in such a mess. The Aussie manager didn't want to post my announcement that I am going back to Accounting. Nevermind, then I shall sit in my present division till I get the notice to move. Which may be end of next month. Why move when it is not official. Other people may get the wrong impression if I were to move without any announcement. This is because Accounting is made up of 90% women, and what are women best at.... gossip and speculation.

It is about 2pm now, just a few more hours to go... *BIG SMILE*.....

Funny Cybersex chat... from Orgasmic Hamster

Was reading Orgasmic Hamster's lastest post on cybersex chatting and had trouble trying not to laugh...

Go read it at her blog...
Orgasmic Hamster, now I am going over to the website that she had listed to start laughing...

Serangoon Garden

Got a shock when I read Anne's blog yesterday. Getting worried, I tried to called her but she didn't answer. Tried calling Mabel then and asked her if she had met with Anne or called her, telling her that her blog sounds worrying.

Anne finally called me on her way to work, saying that she will call me later when she reach office. Waited for her call till lunch time, she didn't call me... But Mabel did get to talk to her and told me that she is alright.

Agreed to meet at Serangoon Garden last night. Special request from Anne to bring a laptop so that she can work and talk to us at the same time. Ended up, only Mabel, Joycelyn and myself, were talking and laughing most of the time. Anne is busy working on the laptop.

She told us that her sup is "bian tai", aiyah, I think perhaps most sups are "bian tai" ones, only a handful are normal... i.e. they think and act logically. It really depends on your luck to get a good one.

Mabel and Joycelyn will be free after today. Last day at work, the feeling must be superb. Mabel only start work next week. So it is like she is having a one week holiday also, like the children. Hahahaha.

Picture of Joelle, hugging her pinky bear bear. She is starting to hug her bear and little pillow when she sleeps, looks so adorable when she does that.

That's all for now. Last post most probably tomorrow before I leave for Malaysia. Shall blog when I am back next week.

Singapore Expo

Brought the kids out to Singapore Expo today. Family outing, Joelle came with us too.

Went there for the Popular bookfest, Mother & Baby Fair and whatever fair is on.

The Mother & Baby Fair is quite crowded with mothers, mothers to be, grandparents, and babies, babies and more babies.....

There is something for everyone there, from milk formula to baby cots, clothes, toys, insurances, banks, and a lot more.

Bought 2 pairs of Crocs for the kids. Now I want one for myself after trying Cheryl's pair of slippers. It is so comfy....

Watson's is having a sale there too.... So popped over to see what they are selling and ended up spending $$$ again...

Over to Popular and got bags for nearly everyone, one for Joelle, one for Cheryl and one for Amy.

Just one weekend of intensive shopping and I am down by close to $400... sob sob...

James' parents and sister came over to visit us on Sunday. He took a few pictures quickly of Ah Ma with Joelle.

Joelle is naughty, choses who she wants to carry her. She cried when Ah Gong carried her and stopped when he pass her over to Ah Ma. Naughty girl...

IT Show

Went to meet James over at Suntec before lunch to see the show together.

Had told Mabel that I will get her the DVD burner for her as I am getting one for myself too. Was there to shop shop, look look for any other good buys this round.

The place is so packed and hard to move, I can't understand why parents want to bring kids there. Not kids actually but toddlers and babys in prams and strollers.

After much shopping and comparing we bought our burner also. Now just need James' finger to recover so that we can install the burner.

Managed to get a 4 leaf clover for my handphone. Wonder if it really works like that I had been reading.

Poor Dear...

Edited on Mar 14... Photos attached...

Sigh, just got call from James that he had injured his finger. Something about hitting his finger against his laptop bag and it is now bend in a funny angle.

I can't imagine how it looks so he is taking pictures for me to see when I get home... I will further edit this post later with pictures...

This is what James' pinkie looked like after he injured it last Friday. Couldn't bend it and it is sort of sticking out at an angle.

This is how it is looking like now. After visiting the doctor. Spent more than 1 hour waiting for him at the doctor's. She took the time to slowly massage his finger, use some kind of heat therapy to stimulate the blood circulation etc.

Poor James...

Sick but recovering...

Was sick since Monday night. Actually it started since after lunch on Monday. Throat getting that prickly feeling signalling the start of a sorethroat. Drank lots of water to try to stem the sorethroat but no use. By the time I left the office, I am having chills.

Went to the doctor after dinner and one look at my throat, he went "tsk tsk tsk..." I asked, "That bad?" Reply was, "It is all red and sore, a flu could be coming with it."

Yikes, that is bad, considering that I am on leave next week to go on a short holiday with the kids and family.

"3 days MC. You better rest at home. Don't go near your kids, this sorethroat is very infectious." Came from the doctor.

I was telling James that he will need to sleep in the other room if not, he could catch it from me. But he didn't and true enough, he called me after lunch the next day saying that he seems to be getting a sorethroat also. His turn to see the doctor on Tuesday night.

Didn't dare to go near the kids especially Joelle as she is still a baby. Will be terrible if she gets sick now when all she can do is cry instead of telling us what is wrong.

Total knockout on Tuesday, just take the medicine and sleep, waking up only to eat my meals. Same for Wednesday, with just that little bit of time to read the papers before sleeping.

Today is the best so far, at least I am staying awake since I woke up this morning. Not feeling that tired anymore and the throat feels better.

Back to work tomorrow. Hopefully won't infect anyone in the office.

Countdown to next week

Counting down to next week... Kids' school holiday and we are going to Malaysia. Been such a long time since we went anywhere...

Didn't do much over the weekend. Had dinner with the gals over at Serangoon Gardens. Tried out a new place called Liquid Kitchen, if I am not mistaken. The food is only so so. Waited for A till after 7.30... She busyt with work these days.

Went over to Happy Daze as usual for our drinks. Reached home about 10+. Still not too late...

Went with James over to Funan to see his road show for his phone... Me read a book when he go pack up for the day. And that's how the weekend went, over in a flash.

Rude guy

I believe that I had meet this guy twice. This morning being the second time.

Left home slightly late this morning, so reached Hougang station at about 6.45. When the train is coming to a stop, I saw that there is only 2 people lighting and about 5 or 6 of us boarding the train so we had left a path in the center for the people to light and we will file in from the side. But this guy, he is really rude, even though we had left a path for him to exit with, he used his shoulders to hit us as he exit. He is not a big sized guy, just average sized and we have not even stepped into the train when he exited so we see no reason why he needs to use his shoulders to hit us. Why, is it just because we are standing by the exit so it is our bad luck and timing that we have to be hit by you? Gracious Singapore, we are still a long way from it. I have heard from my girlfriend that the Koreans behave that way when she is there for a holiday, they just bum into you and won't apologize. However, this is not the culture here. Perhaps he is practising the culture before going there for a visit. In which case, I believe that he will blend in perfectly.

On a lighter note, just read Nadnut's blog about letting go of the one you love but with a few updated versions... go read it here Nadnut's blog and have a good laugh.

Kena sabo... by sup again

Last week, we received some invoices from our consultant, billing us for work done in various countries.

Besides Singapore, this round, there are work done in China and Australia. So there are some invoices for China and Australia, and some for Singapore but pertaining to China and Australia.

So I was asked to book some invoices in Singapore, which is very clear cut. For those that were invoice to Singapore but pertain to China, my sup asked me to get them paid here and billed them and for those pertaining to Australia, we get them to pay the invoices. This will lead to a lot of accounting entries being made and there is also the issue of accountability. Why are we being billed when it is for China or Australia? Just because it is stated that it is work done for China or Australia and we billed them? Why don't the consultant billed the other party directly instead of through us?

Anyway, today, he came to asked me why is it that we are asking Australia to pay for something that is billed to us. I told him that I had checked with him and he had insisted to get Australia to pay that invoice as it is work pertaining to them. He then told me that he had miscommunicated with me. It should be that we pay and bill them. Same treatment as China. Then he should have said so in the beginning.

Today, I have to keep following up with the approval for the payment of this invoice. If everything is done correctly in the first place, then there won't be so much double work to be done now...

Sickening........Nevermind, I will tolerate for one more week.... tolerate, Tolerate, TOLERATE....

Dreams....

Dreamt of my ex-colleague last night.

She had left the company with a not too good reputation. Exact details, I won't go into but let's just say that most people know the reason why she left the company.

I dreamt that apparently we were working in the same company because we were having lunch with a lot of other people. I can see the shock in her eyes when she saw me and she quickly turn to her lunch partner and started chatting, ignoring me. It is fine with me as I am not in the mood to talk to her. When she handed part of her jobscope to me, it was in a haphazard way, going back to her for clarification always ended up without a clear idea of what she is talking about because she will beat around the bush and won't answer the question directly. After a while, it is better to figure out how to do the job or to seek help from other people than to consult her, even though she is suppose to be the subject matter expert.

Woke up this morning before my alarm went off because Joelle was crying for her milk. Have not fallen asleep before the alarm starting to ring. Sigh, lack of sleep....

Days on staying at home

Stayed at home on Tuesday and today. Mum is busy with her stuff so I need to take leave to stay home to look after the kids.

Went for my massage on Tuesday morning. Met a Taiwanese middle age lady at the MRT station. She wants to go to Raffles Place to do her banking so brought her all the way there as I am going down to Raffles Place myself. She is quite an independent lady, wanting to explore the way to Changi Airport herself on Wednesday using the MRT. So was telling her which stops to alight and change MRT to get to Changi Airport.

Was slightly late for my massage but managed to finished on time as I need to rush home to get the kids.

Slept till 10+ today before I woke up. Went to the bank to retrieve a check as my aunt wrote 07 instead of 06 for the year. Bank it next year then. Hahaha..

Back at home now, surfing the net. Will take short nap soon.
