3rd day of resting at home

3rd day of resting at home. Been sleeping every afternoon since Monday. Needless to say, I can't really sleep at night after that.

Will be going to my next check tomorrow. The rash on my tummy is really getting to me. At first thinking that it is heat rash, I took more showers but it still itches even after I spray on the lotion that my doctor gave me. Now the only thing I can do is wait for baby to be out then hopefully, the rash will go away.

Need to get out of the house today to get stuff done... need to change Jasper's glasses, get both Cheryl's and Jasper's textbooks for next year. And more assessment books for him to do both his English and Chinese Composition. Meet his teachers yesterday and the remark is that he talks a lot in class, forgetful at times but he likes to read and can do better. Can improve his handwriting etc etc....

Finally, his wound had closed up quite nicely but I think the scar will be obvious... James is calling him Harry Potter already because of his scar on the forehead though it is not a lighting scar but a straight one. Thinking of getting the La Mer cream for him to apply. See if it will fade the scar away.

No stress these few days as all I did was just check my office email and redirecting it to other people to handle. Don't need to see that Supervisor of mine proves to be very relaxing. I can't remember if I had mentioned in my previous post about him being offered a post in Tianjin.... That is why he is off for a week in October to go to Tianjin for his interview and look for a house there but SADLY, he didn't get the post. Guess what he asked for when he is there... he needs 2 drivers for his family. Can you imagine for a family of 3, he needs 2 drivers. One for himself and one for his wife.

Needless to say, he didn't get the post. Before he went for the interview, he went around telling people that our big boss was the one who wants him to go to Tianjin. After he was rejected, he went around saying that the big boss doesn't like him, so he didn't get the post. Can't imagine someone like him, can't get the post, put the blame on others. So now I am stuck with him for a longer period. Actually, he is suppose to be in my division for about 9 months, it is a project base kind of assignment but now he is stuck with my division till he can find another post to go to. Which means that I am stuck with him too. At least being on leave for these few weeks, perhaps by the time I get back, he will be gone.

Ok, going for lunch now....

Taxis in the Morning

Was really pissed this morning because I had to wait for more than 20 minutes for a cab, only managed to board the cab at 7.35am....It is not that I have never waited that long for a cab before but...

When cabs flash their "Changing Shift" signs, drove to the carpark, you would sort of expect it to come out in about 10 minutes time. But standing at the curb opposite the entrance to the carpark, I have seen about 5 cabs turning into the carpark to change shift (between 7.15 to 7.30) but they had waited till after 7.30am to come out of the carpark to pick up passengers. I know that after 7.30am, you can collect that extra $1 for peak hour but must you really do something like that? The driver today is more concern about punching in the ERP cost into the meter each time he passes the gantry. I never knew that the drivers can do something like that. I know that it is perhaps a convenience to you, all the cost captured in one place but can you do it when we reach the destination? You are driving along the expressway and dividing your attention between the road and your meter, trying to capture the ERP. Already your in-vehicle unit will display how much I have to pay you for the ERP charges. Is it that difficult to add another $3 to the total fare?

There are also drivers who apparently drive around daydreaming. I had seen an empty cab earlier but he is on the opposite side of the road, I flagged it but he just drove on without noticing me. Please, uncle, don't complain that there are no passengers when you don't keep a lookout for them yourself.

Went to celebrate my colleague's birthday last night at Tony Roma's. The group is my old work team from Accounting. Had a blast catching up on all the things that are happening in Accounting and the rest of the company.

Last day at work today. Busy clearing up all the reports before I go on leave.

Past Busy Days....

Had been busy the past few days at work.

1. Discovered that the girl in Beijing had created a big mistake in the assets system. Spend half the day checking on where she went wrong and finally found that she should not have capitalized all the items in the file that the GL Accountant had send her..... Gave me the shock of my life when I saw the hugh discrepancy in the report. Told her how to resolve the discrepancy and luckily the coordinator over in the States is willing to help us.

2. Was thrown a file to input in the system just before lunch yesterday and guess what is the cutoff time to enter all the figures, YESTERDAY, 5.30pm. The file came from the IT manager in India and he kept making changes to the amounts that he wants me to enter for him. Right up to 5.30pm, I am still amending the figures and updating the system for him.

3. Received the capital forecast for 2006 on Monday from all my IT Managers, need to get it into the system before Tuesday closing so the whole day was spent entering figures. The system was close so imagine if each of them have about 25 - 30 items for me to enter and there are a lot of fields to enter for each items.

4. This morning, printed out the report to check and noticed that Girl from Beijing had upped my original capital forecast by adding in a lot of new items. Had told her before that she can use the existing forecast till end of the year but noooo...... she didn't even check to see that there is forecast that still can be used. Take the simple way out by creating new items. No wonder the capital is so much higher than last month.

5. I won't be around to see this mess next month. So it is all up to her to manage everything. I believe that she will just have to answer for what she had done to the management if they were to ask her what is happening to the forecast. We should be reducing it by now, not increasing it. Where on earth have you ever seen forecast increasing towards year end. For sales maybe, if you get an unexpected big deal that came in but spending should be adjusted down towards the yearend if you foresee that you can't finish spending what you had forecasted.

6. Jasper hurt himself again yesterday at the playground. Knocked his head against the pole when he is playing catching with his sis. Cheryl called to tell me about it but she told me that it was ok. Not serious. But I was not feeling comfortable about it so I took a cab home and true enough, mum called me to say that the wound is quite bad because it is still bleeding and the wound is about 1cm. Told her that most probably may need stitches and I am on the way back.Waited for my doctor for 1 hour before he came to the clinic. No need for stitches, he just used a kind of superglue to glue the wound together but it cost me more that $100 just for that...Horrible 2005 for Jasper... just hope that 2006 is better for him.

Lunch time soon. Finally half a day had gone by...

I know that I have been lax...

I know that I have been lax in updating my blog...

But with the long weekend last week, I have been sleeping in and taking naps after lunch to make up for the time that I couldn't fall asleep at night.

It all started at the start of November, I noticed that I would sleep for a few hours, wake up and couldn't fall asleep after that. I would only feel sleepy when it is nearly time to get up for work. So you can imagine how sleepy I feel at work during the daytime.

I have spoken to my Division Head about taking my Maternity leave earlier. He is ok with it and I am so happy. So I will start my leave next week, November 14.

Hopefully I won't need to wait long for baby to make an appearance... Everyone is commenting that I look more than ready to have my baby. Yup, compared to Jasper, I was only weighing close to 60kg just before I delivered him, I am already close to 67 or 68kg now. Putting on more weigh, will have to lose more weigh later. Torture for me as I will be eating a lot during confinement and will most probably be fat like a pig after confinement... sob sob sob...

More meetings later to hand stuff over to my sup, hahaha, now he starts to worry about work when I am not around. Asking me to write procedures so that he knows what to do when he is faced with any particular situations. If you are more pro-active, you will not be caught in this situation.

Counting down the days to Nov 14......

IT'S NOVEMBER.....

Finally, it's November.... After months of waiting, it is here at long last....

Yesterday was a holiday. Cheryl had a birthday party to attend and Jasper wanted to go with her but she complained that her friend didn't actually invite Jasper so I told Jasper to come shopping with me but he refuse. Most probably he thinks that his sister will let him tag along.

Anyway, got them each a book amd 2 for myself from Kino. Found 2 more new authors to read when my supply of books runs out but most probably it will be next year. Reading a new series called the Dark Hunter Series about men from ancient times becoming hunters for Artemis, hunting down vampires called Daimons. How they become mortal beings again after centuries of being an immortal. Already halfway through one of the books.

Got the baby cot and stroller yesterday from John Little. After shopping and comparing for quite a while, finally got that settled. Had actually wanted to get the cot from Tangs but their baby section is under renovation till middle or end November. Too long for me to wait.

Looking forward to the next 2 days of staying at home...can veg out completely without thinking of work....sup said that he is also taking one week off in the month of November... I hope that it will not clash with my maternity leave.....
