Brown is my color

My true color... Brown... which is quite true because I have quite a lot of tops and skirts in this color...hahaha

Take this test at Tickle

Your true color is Brown!

What's Your True Color?

You're brown, a credible, stable color that's reminiscent of fine wood, rich leather, and wistful melancholy. Most likely, you're a logical, practical person ruled more by your head than your heart. With your inquisitive mind and insatiable curiosity, you're probably a great problem solver. And you always gather all of the facts before coming to a timely, informed decision. Easily intrigued, you're constantly finding new ways to challenge your mind, whether it's by reading the newspaper, playing a trivia game, or composing a piece of music. Brown is an impartial, neutral color, which means you tend to see the difference between fact and opinion easily and are open to many points of view. Trustworthy and steady, you really are a brown at heart.

Letters of a thousand pictures

Got to read about this new blog from Tomorrow Secret Letters.

It is about a married guy writing letters to the girl he loves, who is also married.

After reading the blog, the first thought that came to my mind is that are you being fair to your wife?? You said that even before she appear, there are already cracks in your marriage but did you put in an effort to mend the marriage or simply hope that everything will work out fine and just continue to ignore the cracks?

Even your wife noticed that you are behave in a different way towards this girl. Let me tell you, women are no fool when it comes to things like this. Something will tick in that mind of hers and she will start to put things together. You say that you spend a torturous amount of time with her but do you know that the time you spend away from your wife is also a torture for her? Because she knows that you are spending your time with the other woman instead of her. Apparently you have kids, do you want your kids to know that daddy loves another woman who is not their mummy?? What kind of values are you trying to teach your kids? That it is ok to be married to someone and be in love with another??

You are being selfish.

If you have absolutely no more feelings with your wife, make a clean break. Don't drag things till the very end when it explodes in your face, then you make a decision. Or perhaps you would like the decision to be made by others instead of yourself so that you can say, "I didn't want to do that but she insists on it."

Did you ask yourself, are you pining for her because of the physical aspect of the affair or do you really love her? Is it the thrill of the moment, in the heat of passion that you feel that you could not leave her alone. Thrill of the moment, heat of the passion will fade but what will you be left with in the end? A broken family because of your "love" for her? Is it really love? Have you ever ask yourself that?

Damn, getting all worked up because of this stupid guy but I absolutely can't tolerate men who is unfaithful.

On leave and sick

Celebrated my birthday with my family on Saturday at Waraku. Even Mum and Kevin said that the food is good but the portions are rather large.

Went to get the Motorola phone for Amy but the boss of the shop is not around so we need to make arrangement again.

Surprisingly, met Gavin and his family over at Marina. They had just went to the Dive Exhibition at Suntec. Both his kids are so grown up now.

Sunday, noticed that Joelle's eyes are rather teary, seems to be coming down with a cold. Decide to bring her to the doctor on Monday.

Early Monday morning, we brought her to the doctor and it was sometime before we get to see the doctor. True enough, she is down with a cold. The first time we got her to take her medicine, she is rather cooperative, but from the second time onwards, she just refuse to take her medicine. Crying and spitting it out, it took the 3 of us to get her to take her medicine. But by Wednesday, she is very much better.

But I start to feel tired and had body aches on Tuesday night. Turn out that I got the flu also. Slept early on Tuesday night and most of Wednesday afternoon. Not too good as I am spending my leave sleeping most of the time but with a running nose and body aches, I think it is best that I sleep and get well as soon as possible.

Took my med just now but still my nose is running like crazy and I keep sneezing away.

That's it, I am off to bed.

Rain days

Past few days had been rainy days. Best for snuggling under blankets with a good book to spend the afternoon reading.

My colleague past the 4th book from Jean M. Auel to me this morning. I am only half way through the 3rd book. Reading had been slow as I had been doing crossword puzzles now instead of reading on the MRT on the way back.

But still, I am fallling asleep on the train. Too tired to keep awake even when I am reading.

New workstation is rather open compared to the last one. With the supervisor sitting behind me and nothing much except for a high partition between us. Can't blog as and when I like anymore.

Of Motorcycles and Slower Cars

Okay, had a few bad experiences during these few days of driving.

  1. Motorcycles going no faster than 60 in the middle lane. You are effectively hogging the lane causing the rest of the vehicles behind you to travel at a slower speed. Please use the left lane instead. You can continue to go as slow as you like.
  2. Car slowing down and changing lanes when you change lane just to be ahead of you. Your behaviour is extremely childish. I have nothing to say to you except you should not be on the road.

On why the CTE will have massive jams in the morning, it is due to cars slowing down when they approach the speed camera. Please, the speed limit is 90, going at 90 or even 95 will not cause you to get fine. If you are going at 110 or more, the possibility is there but not 90 or 95. Travelling at 60 will only cause a hugh jam and nothing else. One can see that the "jam" just disappear after the speed camera and there is no jams along the way toward the tunnels.

It is raining cats and dogs now over at Jurong. I would give anything to be at home sleeping. Anyway, 5 days to my birthday this Saturday. Then a week's break from work. Heavenly...

Book Expo and John Little sales

Went to the Book Expo this afternoon, there are so many books there, I had actually thought that it only sells books that are not so saleable but was I mistaken because there are all sorts of books there.

The only trouble is that you must have the patient of a saint to be standing there, sorting out all the books because they don't group them by authors or alphabetically. Some books just appear on all the tables. Some books you have to look under the tables for them. Managed to get the 5th book for the Earth Child series for only $10 and it is a hardcover.

Managed to get some books for 3 at $10. Foreign magazines - 5 for $10. It is a steal when they normally sells at $8 - $10. (Granted that they are a little old, Nov 05 and Dec 05 issues but I am not in a hurry to get them.)

In fact, one of my girlfriend was telling me that if I am not in a hurry to read the current month's issue, I can always get it cheaper at one of the 2nd-hand bookstores over at Bras Basah at $1 or $2.

James got a hardcover book on Man U, his fav team at only $6, considering that it was actually priced at $15 earlier during the sales. A further reduction of $9.

Over at John Little, bought new pillows as they are going for a song. I discover that I have a habit of only getting new pillows during sales. For pillows costing around $39.90 or more, it goes down to $12 or $9.90 during sales, so when will you get new pillows except during sales??

If only there are regular sales period for my grocery shopping. I can save bundles on noodles, bread and whatever...like 3 packets of noodles for the price of one...

Was raining heavily when we went to get petrol after all that shopping, there is this hugh MVP in front of us, a Tuscon, I believe, as there are rows of pumps in front of us, he drove off to the front, making it look like he is going for another pump in front, so we went heads into the pump right in front of us, when we noticed the attendent signalling us to reverse, we were like "reverse the car for what?" James lower the car window and the attendent told us that the MPV was suppose to reverse to the pump that we were in.

HELLO.... you mean you can't drive straight into the lot and must absolutely do a reverse to go into the lot just to fill your tank????

No wonder we were labelled "Sxxxxd", I have never come across a person with normal logic to have to reverse their car to fill their tank, granted that you may tell me that the tank is on the other side of the car, but trust me, the hose is long enough to reach the other side of your car. You may just need to park your car slightly forward, you definitely don't need to reverse park your car just to fill your tank.

The driver actually glared and signaled to me that he got the right to go into the lot before us, FINE, we just need to drive to another lot which is just in front of us, we definitely don't need to reverse park our car just to fill our tank. DUMB driver.

Got more to talk about drivers on the next post...

Stay home and sleep...

Went to pick mum up from the airport at 1am this morning. Her flight was supposed to reached Singapore at 1.30am but was delayed for another 15 minutes, reaching Singapore at 1.45am instead. It was further delayed when we reached the airport.

Waited till close to 2.30am when she came out. Reached home at about 3am. Too awake to fall asleep so was doing a puzzle, before I knew it, my eyes are closing. Didn't know that puzzles can put me to sleep also. Thought that it is only books that are boring will do that to me.

Anyway, Kevin had bought me an earlier birthday present from China. Those multi-tier Chinese box with an ancient lock. Had been bugging him for ages after seeing the box that he had bought for himself on his last trip to China. Told him that I will pay for it when he gets one for me but on this trip, he got one for my birthday instead. Hahaha... Will take pic of it later. I still like his better because his can lock all the trays up compared to mine, only the top can be locked up.

Mum was saying that the place that they went to have got all sorts of stuff for sale, it is just that whether you have all the funds to buy everything that you want.

I want to go there too for shopping.... but if it is only for wholesale, then no point going there because I can't buy things piecemeal from the shops.

Weekend grocery shopping, spend a bomb as usual and this is without getting veggie, meat and fish. Just the dry stuff, like noodles, rice, whatnots.

Going for the book expo tomorrow...

Good Friday...

Went for my massage today. Brought Joelle along to let Melissa have a look at her.

Everyone at the saloon was oohing and aahing over her once we were there. Exclamations of "She is so cute...", "She looks like a hamburger", "I want to pinch her cheeks"...

She was a little overwhelmed with all the attention at first and cried a little but was okay after that. Didn't heard any cries from her when I went for my massage and she stayed outside with Amy. She even managed to sleep for a while.

Went to pick James up and go over to IMM for dinner. She is sound asleep most of the time. Walked around for a while before we head for home.

Working Lunch

With the move back to Accounting, I learnt that there is a bi-weekly "Learn & Lunch" session for the whole team ranging from Singapore, Hong Kong and Beijing. We are eating lunch and having an informal sort of meeting/learning session for that 1 hour.

Suggestions was to maybe have it every 6 weeks or so but some say that it is too far apart.

Still clearing up shit from my predecessor and now, another new set of problem had emerged after I closed the system on Monday. It is the practise to print out a set of reports to review if there are any items that looks funny (amount too hugh or too low compared to last month) so imagine my surprise when I saw that my actual spending was showing negative amounts instead. Went to speak to the GLS accountant but he told me that there is nothing wrong with his entries as he HAD been passing them since he join the team about six months back.

Still feeling that something is wrong with the entries being passed. I asked to see his journal entries and guess what, he is passing the entries in a totally different way which is causing my system to show up as having negative spending. I explained to him that it is not correct to pass the entries this way but he starts to get defensive and that he have a lot of entries to pass if he were to do it the proper way. WTH, if you are passing the wrong entries and causing wrong data to be captured downstream, make sure you correct it. To say that you have a lot of entries to pass is really a dumb excuse. All accountants have to pass entries. It is just a matter of how many.

Seeing that I am not getting anywhere with him, I decide to wait a day before speaking to his supervisor because they are here to learn how to do things the right way before bring this work back to India. I am not going to let them mess up the data when they are back there.

His supervisor's final comment was that "see if corporate can help us in adjusting the previous 2 months entries". He kept emphasing to his boss that he have to pass more than 40 entries every month compared to some other accountants who needs to pass perhaps only 2 entries.

I know that corporate will not adjust the pass 2 to 3 months entries for us due to the fact that the system we are talking about pull data from GLS. This system don't generate data by itself. So if you cause the error, shouldn't you be the one who correct it?

Kept my new supervisor updated on this issue and he also agreed with me that corporate will not do the adjustments for us as they don't handle GLS at all. But I know that the accountant and his supervisor will try to get corporate to do something so I send the note to my contact asking her if she can help.

I am still waiting for her reply as she needs to consult her colleagues on this. Most probably we will be having a discussion sometime next week.

Tired

Yesterday was the deadline for me to close my system for the month. First closing for me after a long time. I had started to close a few of the easier facilities on Friday so that I will only be left with the tough one on Monday. The accountant had promised that he will give me the report on Monday morning.

But guess what, it is only after I had chased him from before lunch (10+ in the morning) till 4.30pm that he finally managed to pass me the report at 4.35pm. He kept telling me to give him another 10 minutes but his 10 minutes is what the girls would tell their boyfriends to wait another 10 minutes so that they can finish their makeup. This gives a new meaning to "rubber time" ...

It is lucky that there are no griefs when I tried to close that particular facility if not, I will really scream at him for wasting my time, waiting for him.

Still not too use to my new place because it is more open than the previous one.
The partitions are way lower and my new supervisor is sitting behind me. There is a high partition that separates us which is good for me because I am really not use to the fact that he can just stand up and see what I am doing. My previous supervisor likes to see what I have on screen each time he comes into my partition. Wonder how he is doing right now.

Went over to Malaysia over the weekend with Joelle. Collected her passport and went in directly. She is quite good in the sense that she is not fussy when we are travelling.

Here's her passport photo...

One of the recent photos that we took of her...

Month End Closing

Once again, I have to start doing the Month End Closing.

Need to get the GL accountants to close their accounts early so that I can get my report out for review. But I think they have not been closing for the last few months that I was away so they are not used to closing the accounts early now. One of the facility had a new staff, transfer from another region to our office here. He said that he can only give me the report on Monday after he closed his books today. I need to close my system on Monday too. Can anticipate the mad rush ahead for myself if he can't get his report ready. Maybe he will be back in the office on Saturday to work...

Had finally moved back to Accounting with all my stuff last evening. Took me about 3 hours to settle down in the new workstation, from packing my things to unpacking my things and getting IT to shift my computer over.

Noticed that the day passes very fast today, before I even know it, I was late for lunch.

Too many things to do since I transfer back. Both a good sign and a bad sign...SIGH....

Tai Tais in my office

I am so pissed with the "Tai Tais" in my office.

Can you imagine, one of the kit in the color printer had ran out so it needs to be changed. But all the Tai Tais' manicured fingers just could not lift that one small kit and change it. According to the printer status, reports could not be printed since 9am this morning but no one, absolutely no one wants to change it.

The secretary is on leave today so she can't change it. I only found out at about 3.30pm after I submitted my report that there is a queue of 19 reports to be printed before mine. All I can see is that there is an error. Thinking that the printer is out of paper, I went over to take a look and noticed that the kit needs to be changed.

Luckily the new kit is just parked at one of the empty workstation but still no one seems to be bothered about it. No reports, never mind. Wonder how they do their work today. So I have to change it to get my report.

Some reports are over 60 pages. So all I can do is wait now. Last time I check, it is still printing the 60+ pages report. There is another 2 40-page reports to be printed before my turn.

Arrgggghhh.. there is another error in the printing of report again... need to go check and see what had happen.

Reckless Driver

Was driving this morning to work, real early as the car was converted to a weekend car.

When I was about to exit from the AYE to Jln Boon Lay, there was this car which just cut in front of me and expects me to give way to him. I was already in the filter lane going out to Jln Boon Lay. I slowed down to let him in and flashed my headlights at his inconsideration, I would have hit him if I had not hit my brakes.

The car then drove on to the front and tried to butt into the MPV on the left lane. From where I am, it is a near miss. He nearly scrapped the right side of the MPV. The MPV was more aggressive than me, he flashed him continously and actually followed the reckless driver when he moved back to the right lane to over take a van and cut into the van's lane to filter left to go to Jurong Port Roads. It seems like he can't decide if he would like to go to the left or to the right. Weaving around the cars dangerously, unless that driver is in a hurry to get to the washroom. He is a danger on the road.

I wonder if the MPV will follow that reckless driver all the way to his office. Now that will news for tomorrow papers. "MPV driver reports reckless driver, tailing him to his workplace to nab him."

Too bad that I didn't manage to get his vehicle number.
