Frustrated.....

Was really pissed with the temp staff over at Accounting this morning. Ok, so you are doing documentation/process flow for the supervisor. But when I tell you the correct terminology to use, it is to facilitate the communication between the external auditors and whoever is taking over that jobscope in future. Imagine if you were to describe a report as a reconciliation and I were to describe it as an analysis. Won't people get confused when they talked to each other in future???? You are only a temp staff here (not that I look down on temp staff, I have come across some very good temp staff) on one of the manager's recommendation. Yes, I know that you may have some backing from him but don't show me an irritated face when I explain things to you. You mean to tell me that for someone who is only in this company for less than 3 months, you know the workings better than me??

God, it feels good to have blown off some steam.... I have always believe that if one don't know how things work, it is always good to ask others politely. The younger people these days just don't seems to have that type of attitude, to be polite to others. (Not all are like that) So what if you have came from one of the big audit firms, with manners like that, (crappy) I don't think people will get along well with you.

Have finished my book this morning on my way to work. It is not as good as the other 2 books that I had read from the same writer. Nevermind, that is all she had written, 3 books in total. So unless she got another book coming out next year, I won't have to worry about missing any of her books.

Got my next book ready... from R.D. Robb... her "In Death" series are really good. Set in the future, it is a little scary to see what the world may become in 2058.... Heroine from the story is a policewoman who is attached to the Homocide team. Imagine prostitutes being called Licensed Companion. No real meat only soy based substitutes, even coffee is some kind of soy based coffee... yucks...give me real coffee anytime...

Still in a pissy kind of mood now. Not really productive for work. Just heard from my ex-team mate that the new supervisor for my ex-team didn't know that I am still hanging on to some of my ex-responsibility. I mean that I don't mind helping you out till you get your new staff on board but at least let me know when I can hand things over to you. Give me a deadline when you will take things back.

Consolation is that at my new group, I am left to do things on my own... a little like the provincial headless fly at times but am happy not to have too many people bugging me with things which equates to total boredom at times. Being in a cubicle facing a PC with no one to talk to most of the time is very very boring.

Time to set new goals, learn how to use XML (hahaha, Mabel, at least I am doing some learning on the job) so that I can beautify my blog.

Raining day...Sleepy day....

Finally, finished Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince last night. There isn't much action eg. wizards fights etc till nearly the end of the book and Dumbledore was killed by Snape. Hate Snape. Made life miserable for Harry and finally kills Dumbledore...But this book left me with unanswered questions, why is Dumbledore's hand all black and withered? What had happened to it? Did I missed reading it? I remember that Dumbledore told Harry that he will explain to him what had happened another time?? When?? In the last book after he had died?????

Anyway, had started on my new book this morning to work, this is the 3rd book that I am reading from this writer. Had found her first 2 books very interesting so I got her 3rd book the other day when I went shopping. This time it is about a female banker who decides to show her bank that their security system sucks by diverting USD 1 billion away from their accounts for 3 months and earn USD 30 million before returning the money to them. Will write more after I finished the book.

Started raining about 5.30 this morning. Snuggled deeper into bed and dragged the blanket over myself, telling myself to go back to sleep. With the cool air blowing, I don't want to leave my bed at all.

6.30, hubby telling me to wake up if not, I will be late for work. No "5 more minutes" excuses were entertained. Dragged myself out of bed and start to get ready for work. Can't decide what to wear, stood in front of the wardrobe staring at the clothes, finally picked one out and decide that this is the one for today. Showed him how I looked and he replied that I look pregnant.... hahaha... what do you expect??? I am pregnant.....Can't be looking slim now, can I?

Got to Outram MRT and waited for taxi... today it is the passengers waiting for taxi and not the other way round. Took a while before I board the cab and halfway through the journey, I was closing my eyes, napping away. Bed, give me my bed....

Finally got to the office to start work... but ended up blogging about my morning... Can't really blame me as I have not got the approval to set up the capital spending for one of the major projects. It had been for the longest time since we last send out the approval to the States and still, we have not got any reply from them about setting the project up for us. If this goes on any longer, my suspense account items will burst by this month end. All my items are being booked there till this gets set up. Sigh... bitching about work early in the morning but it is frustrating when you can't get anything moving and this is not the only project on hold now. I have another one being held up and it is in China which is worse as China is so far away and I can't really control their spending there.

Need to go speak to that manager of mine again about the project approval....

Finally got my Harry Potter

Finally went down to Kino on Friday night to get my copy of Harry Potter. Had placed the advance order in June but had missed going over to Kino on the 16th after my checkup because I thought that it is not out yet.

Left a few more chapters to go before finishing the book. Then I can start on the other 2 books that I bought... Boy, it is hard to follow a series... especially when the author had already written quite a few books of the series when you start to read her books. Trying to limit myself to buying 1 or 2 at most each time when I get the books but there is still a whole lot of them that I need to get before I even get to her latest. Nevermind, I shall do it slowly, pace my reading, will have a lot of time to do my reading towards end of the year.

Couldn't sleep again last night. Stayed awaked till nearly 2am... expect myself to be falling asleep later in the afternoon. Yawning away now, need to go for a walk soon to wake myself up.....Expect it to be a slow slow day again today...

Weekend in sight...

Friday, finally it is the weekend. Will be going down to Kino to get my copy of Harry Potter. Cheryl was bugging me on Monday about the book. It seems that the rest of her friends had already got the book and started reading it. Whereas she have not even lay eyes on the book yet.

I had actually thought of going over to Kino on Saturday after my checkup but as it was raining and the nurse told me that I can go over to Thomas Medical for my detail scan, I decided to go for the scan instead. Anyway, I was uncertain if the book is suppose to be out on Saturday or not... No reports in the papers. I checked before I left the house.

Have not recovered completely from the pesky cold as yet. Voice still breakup at times. The secretary was telling me that the flu bug is still in the air and told be to take care. I have been good, taking my medicine and trying to sleep early but it is not getting better anytime soon.

Joined the crowd to buy TOTO yesterday. The prize money is $5M, I heard. It is a case of trying my luck. Don't buy, no hope, bought at least there is a chance... even though it is a one in a zillion chance... there is still hope... hahaha wishing thinking....

Will have to finish my HK serial soon. Was given 2 weeks to watch the show and it is approaching the 2nd weekend already...

Watched LOST last night and had switched channels when Sayid started to torture Saywer. Not going to listen to people screaming in pain. Went over to Star Movies and there is this movie with Jordan Chan in it. Have to catch it sometime when I am free.

It will be lunchtime soon. Someone is treating a few of us to lunch today. Till later...

On half day leave today...

Finally..... Thursday, will be on halfday leave today. Taking time off to veg out.

Went to read Xiaxue's blog and realised that someone had hacked into her blog and gmail accounts, deleting all her archives and left a post on her blog pretending to be her. This is scary. Imagine someone hacking into your account and deleting all your posts and emails. I think I can understand her frustrations. I think I will be screaming the house down if it happens to me to.

Anyway, hope that Xiaxue will get her blog up soon. Will miss reading it if she discontinues writing it.

LOST is on tonight......

I am Back....

Finally back after being on MC on Monday. Had a bad cold and sore throat. Went to visit my doctor again. The nurse was surprise to see me again so soon. When I spoke to her, her reaction was, "Your sore throat got worse." I told her that I know, thought that by visiting the doctor when the sore throat started will keep it at bay but no use, two days to feeling better then I felt worst than before. My nose was running like crazy, throat hurting, coughing away...

Anyway took the medicine and slept Monday away. Ended up wide awake at night. Couldn't sleep for a very long time so just lie in bed and close my eyes. Fell asleep in the end but I think it is rather early in the morning by then.

Tuesday, had to be back in the office as there are people coming over from Beijing to learn the systems. Got to teach them how to operate the systems so that I can hand over that side of the work to them. Rather fast learners the two of them. Spent less than 2 hours telling them how to use the system and they were telling me that they have an idea how to work it.

Wednesday, taught them the 2nd system, completed everythingin the morning. That is fast, I had thought that I would need one day to cover everything with them. Now I have the afternoon to myself.

Waiting for Thursday, will be on half day leave. Going home and sleep the afternoon away... hahahahaha.....

Which kind of blogger are you???

Took the Blogger test from Mabel's blog and TA DA... My profile is below...

Congratulations Jen, you are...

Mr Miyagi of myveryownglob.blogspot.com

You are witty, and you know people from places. Those two qualities and others make you a very popular person among your peers, because they want to hear you dish out filthy backstage gossips. You also have a knack for inventing new words to suit yourself. You are a very loyal friend, and would jump into the ocean if your friend asked you to. And that's probably gonna happen if your friend gets too jealous of you getting all the girls/guys.

Which Singaporean Blogger Are You?

Boy am I surprise with the results... Try the test and find out which type of Singaporean Blogger you are.....

Sick...

Fell sick yesterday, woke up with a scratchy throat, tearing eyes and a slightly running nose in the morning. Told hubby that I will be going to see the doctor later and ask him to go work without me.

Slept till 10 before I got ready to go to the doctor's. Waited more than 1/2 hour to my turn but there is only one patient before me. Seeing that it will be 11 soon, pop over to Mac's to get their new breakfast set, Kaya toast, then went back and wait for my turn.

Got MC for the day, went back home, ate breakfast and medicine and slept till dinner time. Feeling much better by then.

Mabel, forgot to tell you that there is this food fair over at Taka, lots of food and dried stuff. I bought Japanese candy and their dried seaweed. Goes well with porridge but for a small pack, it cost $10. Rather expensive. Jasper bought ice cream to share with my mum and Cheryl bought candy to share with me. After that, Jasper also went to the little shops outside Cold Storage to get me candy.

Anyway, back at work today and reading a lot of comments about the recent happenings about the charity organization. Logging on to read the papers later.

Taxi ride this morning...

As usual, I took a taxi to work this morning. After boarding the taxi, the cabbie uncle started to tell me about the "big" news of the day... the CEO of NKF had a gold-plated tap in his toilet... from the reports in the papers.... and is drawing an annual pay of more than $500K...flying 1st class around the world.

He ws saying that poor people like him called to contribute to NKF because they would like to help the less fortunate. He is still working so he would like to help others but after learning that what we contribute is not for the patients... he said that he will not be calling in for contributions anymore. I too feel a little cheated. Imagine a person earning so much and it is a charitable organization that he is working in.

Ok, even if it is said that the more you earn, the more taxes you pay but it is rather ridiculous to me that a person is earning more than $500K a year running a charitable organization. The public is contributing to it every month, like me, deductions straight from my pay. Even though it is not a lot but imagine if every one in my company who uses Giro for their contribution every month, say an average of $10 per person, that will be about $2K per mth, $24K per year, and that is only from 1 company.

On top of that, there are the fund raising shows are that staged every year, a lot of people called in to donated even more money to help the kids and adults who are suffering from cancer. We have to pay GST on top of the donations that we donate. I don't think these are tax deductable as it is a call in donation but if it is for charity, why are the telcos charging us the GST. Can't they waive the GST? I can't remember how much is being charged for the call-ins but imagine we hit more than 900,000 calls, how much GST the telcos are collecting???

Come to think of it, for the coming NKF show on Thursday, I will not be calling in to donate. I'll just watch the show and see how many more people will donate. I am seriously thinking of cancelling my Giro deduction. Why are my donations being used to pay someone hundreds of thousands of dollars to run a charitable organization???

It's Monday Blues again

Oh my gosh, did my weekend go? Can't believe that it is Monday again and I am back in the office having to do another week of work.

At times, am really happy that time is passing so fast. Before I know it, it will be end of the year and a new year will start. But I would like the weekends to last longer so that I can catch up on my sleep and just basically laze around at home.

Wishful thinking but still hoping that it will come true. Had finished the books that I book 2 weekends ago. Out of books to read again and will have to make a trip down to the bookstore soon to get new books. I have been good, cut down on my magazines. Had practically stopped buying most of the magazines that I used to buy. Presently, the only magazine that I read is Simply Her magazine. This is to replace Woman's World magazine that I use to read. They had stopped publication sometime early this year. What a waste as it is quite a good and informative magazine but luckily I found this new magazine. Not too much ads and it does review on products and services which is good as I won't have to guess which services are good based on the Yellow Pages.

Ooppssss, emails are coming in... need to go attend to it now...

Fat Finger's blog...

Managed to come across this interesting blog this morning... called ihavefatfingers... it is a good read and managed to read all her entries within a day. Another good one is call blackhighheels.... both are recommended by mr miyagi...

Believe that I will go through a few more blogs to search for interesting reads... Slow day for me at work today. Finished all my reports this morning and that's it. Ever since I move over to this new division, work had really slowed down. Not that I am complaining but sometimes you will be bored out of your mind with nothing to keep you occupied.

I can see my Temporary supervisor walking to and fro to the accounting department but he had been doing that since before I join this new division. Basically he had no one to talk to over here so he will walk over to look for his "kakis" to talk about work.

When I asked him if there is anything that he needs me to do. He will say something like.."Yes, there is a contract that I need to read and digest before I can let you know what type of worksheet I need you to give me. That was one month ago. Till date, he have not start reading the contract as yet. But I can see that he is very busy, walking to and fro to Accounting department.Or is he just spying on me to see what I am doing??? Lucky for me, over at the new division, we are sitting in high partition workstations so it is not so easy to peep over my shoulders to see what I am doing.

There he goes again, walking by my work station. I can time when he will be walking back to his work station. In approximately 3 minutes time. That is how far Accounting is from our work stations. See, he had just pass by my work station to go to his work station.

This is how boring work is now.Once I reached office, I will be thinking of lunch. After lunch, I will be thinking of tea because by then, it will be close to 5.30 and I will leave the office for home.

Today is designated as Document Clearing day in the office so all of us are encouraged to clear all old documents. There are special bins for us to place the documents for shredding and destroying. Whichever divisions' bins weighs the heaviest, win a prize, too bad, I had junked most of my documents when I moved to the new division. Can't contribute to the division's bin for them to win the competition this time but next time I will contribute. Just give me some time to accumulate my papers...hahaha.... occupation hazard, use to keep documents for at least 3 years before I junk them.

OK, need to go search for more new blogs to read...

Songs....

Finally, brought the songs that James' friend compiled for our wedding to the office and load them into the computer....

Frankly, I didn't really noticed the songs being played during the dinner so it is nice to be able to hear them now. His friend is the more humorous type so it is a mix of English and Mandarin songs.

Still waiting for my photos, can't wait to see it. Wonder how it will turn out. Maybe in another week or so, we will get it.

Woke up 4+ this morning and couldn't really get back to sleep after that. Now, my eyes are getting heavy again. Give me a bed and I think I will be asleep in a flash. Hate waking up in the middle of the night as I can't fall back to sleep easily. Really admire those who can just go back to sleep in a snap whereas I will be tossing and turning and still can't get to sleep.

Sigh... back to work... need to get some reports out for tomorrow.

Midweek once again

Once again it is midweek, two more days to the weekend. Will need to celebrate my parents' birthday this weekend. Need to spend $$$ again but when it comes to eating... nothing is too much...

Have to think of where to eat now and if we need to reserve a place in advance etc etc... most probably will be eating Japanese food as it is the family's all time favourite...

A man wrote into the papers (TODAY) sometime ago, about people not giving up their place for pregnant ladies in the MRT. He had to asked the people if they will let his wife sit (she is pregnant), before several people raise their hands to indicate that they will give up their seats. I find that this is true even in my case. In the early stage of pregnancy, when my bump don't show, I won't expect people to offer their seats to me. But I found that even if I were to wear Maternity wear, guys would just take a look at me and pretend that they didn't see a pregnant lady in front of them. This morning, when I boarded the train, I walked in and stood in front of a guy, he was adjusting his haversack, saw me in front of him, adjusted his bag somemore, then he closed his eyes and started to sleep.

I think Singapore have a long way to go before we can be more gracious. The "Give up the seat to people who needs it more" sign was just above the guy but obviously he needs the seat more than I do as he needs to catch his beauty sleep. Or is this just a case of "Mind my own business" of that guy, if this doesn't concern him, why should he care if I have a seat or not?? Or perhaps I should have taken the train up to Ponggol where there are few people so that I can get a seat easily? But that will be a little ridiculous to do just to get a seat. Anyway, I am getting quite used to standing till Dhoby Ghaut to get a seat.

Enough of the ungracious guy from this morning, there will be no end to jerks like him...

Need to get back to work, checking fixed assets this morning...

Back at work after super long weekend

Finally back at work after taking leave from Thursday till Monday. Couldn't believe that I had actually taken leave for so many days and surprisingly, my office mail didn't explode with too many unread emails.

However, still have to clear up stuff that had came in last week and on Monday.

Can still remember during my wedding dinner, my dear galfriends "sabo" James... hahaha... poor James, made to eat some kind of yam pudding + wasabi and I don't even want to know what else they had included in that cup of pudding... just the sight of that mess make me want to puke. imagine James had to take a mouthful of it... GOD.... I nearly threw up on his behalf....

But I would say that I am lucky that James didn't get drunk that night. Both my brothers were drunk and boy, were we busy when we got home after the dinner... James was telling me that it is more tiring for him to be awake than drunk as he had to help look after my brother... hahaha...

We spend Saturday returning the wine that we didn't consume and manage to catch part of the NPD rehearsal, saw all the heavy armour trucks and jeeps and whatnots being driven pass North Bridge Road, or is it South Bridge Road... I am not sure of the name of the road but we manage to see them driving pass when we went to return the wine...

Afterwhich we went shopping at Orchard, shopped from Taka to Robinson before we left for home... I was already complaining that my feet were tired by the time we reach Robinson, James then told me to wait for him at Specialist Shopping Center, asked me to grabbed a drink when he walks back to get the car and come over to fetch me... Told him that I will walk back with him but he told me to wait instead, surprising that he came quite fast, within 15 mins, he was already calling me to come out to meet him. I don't even have the time to read my book after getting my coffee.

Sunday, another lazy day, went over to Tiong Bahru for breakfast with James, Mum and Bro. After that we went to Pasir Panjang to get some fruits, can you imagine, one box of cherries, 9KG only cost $120. I shared the box with another couple and ended up paying only $53 for slightly more than 4KG of cherries. Had a cherry fest at home that night.

Monday, decided to take the day off as I was not feeling well on Sunday night and was sick on Monday morning again. Thought that I was over the throwing up stage already but... sigh... still does that once in a while. Slept till 10 then woke up to have breakfast and read the papers. Was watching TV when I realised that I only had about 8 or 9 days of leave left for the rest of the year. Wow, have to be more selective when I want to go on leave. Can't waste them anymore.

Anyway, will be going on long leave towards end of the year so no point taking leave too often. Need to make sure that I still have leave to carry forward to 2006.

Back to work now... been blogging for a while already...
